Can I buyout an “OR” car lease?

I went on a car lease with someone to help them out and on paperwork I’m the primary but we’re both co-owners. Relationship turned bad and don’t really wanna wait 2 more years for lease to end. Car dealership finance manager said the contract was an or so I could just bring the car in and buy it out to get their name off. Is there any legal repercussions or anything I should be aware of? The car was bought for them to use and they’ve been making the payments for 8 months out of the 36 month lease. Can they sue me for the 8 months of payments they made? We went no contact so I’d buy it out without telling them

irrelevant possibly but I’ve helped them financially for a while now. More than the worth of the payments so far on the car. I don’t really care if they went to buy it out with someone else. Just don’t want my name to sit on the lease for two more years with them so I’ll just buy it.

No, they can’t sue you for the 8 months, because they have been using the car. If they wanted that money back it would be like them getting a car completely free for 8 months.
