I sometimes find it hard to get iced or hot coffee down in the morning since starting a medication, but still love the flavor and could honestly just eat the beans on the drive to work.
If a person hypothetically did this, would the caffeine absorb the same way? Would there be any downsides? (I’m fine with the taste/bitterness)
Comments
I actually think you may absorb more caffeine, as some of the caffeine may be lost in the brewing process.
You can, yes, but definitely do research into how many coffee beans are safe or equivalent to X amount of coffee because you’ll easily have way more caffeine than you normally would. Like my espresso is 14-15g of ground coffee, but there’s a ton of caffeine still in the puck after so it’s not like I could just eat 15g of coffee beans for the same effect
Yep, you can totally eat coffee beans instead of drinking coffee. They have caffeine and hit a bit faster, but too many can upset your stomach or make you jittery. Just keep it to a small handful, and you’re good!
If you can’t drink coffee with the meds what makes you think eating them will feel ok?
Can you drink other things in the morning? That would possibly indicate the coffee is what’s not working for you.
Yes you can eat coffee beans, to answer the question. They actually sell chocolate covered beans – not everywhere but I’m pretty sure I’ve had it once.
ETA: there are also other caffeine products, even pills. Just wouldn’t advise it…I’d try tea or hot cocoa if I were you. (And I’m a serious coffee drinker)
Oh yeah. Chocolate covered coffee beans have been a thing for decades. I loved crunching on them and buzzing around like a demented bumble bee
Totally doable! Eating coffee beans is a legit way to get your caffeine fix. The caffeine still hits, and sometimes even faster since you’re digesting the whole bean, not sipping a drink over time.
Just keep in mind: they’re more concentrated, so a small handful packs a punch. Too many might upset your stomach or make you feel a little wired. But if you enjoy the taste and your body’s cool with it, munch away!
Chocolate coated coffee beans are a thing. Actually really nice.
Chocolate covered coffee beans are the way to go
Decades ago there was an option to buy coffee beans coated in chocolate – however they stopped stocking them at my local Woolworths.
Would love to find some somewhere.
Fuck yeah
You can! Just don’t over do it and you may not really actually like it just eating them like that
Teeth staining is gonna go crazy
Should let your cat or neighbor cat eat them first… then pick out the beans… so I heard from a friend.
I was once on holiday in Bulgaria (Sunny Beach). We stayed at a hotel that had a 24 hour bar, where 2 young ladies ran the entire bar. Between them, they had the bar covered 24/7. We got talking one night and one of them just ate a spoon full of freshly ground beans. Just grabbed a spoon, took a huge scoop, scoffed it and carried on as normal.
Yes. Chocolate covered coffee beans are a thing, and they’re delicious. 30-45 pieces per day tho to stay safe. Way more caffeine than coffee
I’ve actually tried eating coffee beans coated with chocolate before. I did enjoy it because it gives me the rich taste of coffee in a more convenient way. However, I didn’t really feel the same level of caffeine alertness that I do whenever I drink coffee. I’m not sure if it’s because of the form or if I simply have to eat more coffee beans.
Just pour the Folgers directly in your mouth and swallow it with a sip of water
I would suck on one or two beans. It was ok
