Can I Get a Ticket For Not Yielding Right of Way to a Firetruck Even Though I Wasn’t Ticketed On The Spot?

r/

Hello Reddit.

I accidentally missed a fire truck coming through and tried to get through the intersection even though he was going through. Let me explain.

On a two way road, there were people in front of me that went in front of this stopped fire truck. However, at a bad angle, I didn’t see him moving, he appeared stopped at the distance he was originally at.

He got a bit closer but it was too late… I felt kinda bad, even though at least he still had some space (it was a bit of a wide two way).

I wasn’t pulled over or anything, but could I still get a ticket in the mail or anything like that?

State of California, if that helps with answers. Thanks in advance!

Highly unlikely. Unless you’re stopped on scene in the car, the work it’d take to prove you committed the violation isn’t worth it. People drive stupidly around emergency vehicles response driving all the time, just learn and do better next time.
