On 7/14/25 I went to go watch the new Superman movie and parked my car in the parking lot around 6pm. Walking back to my car I find the rear end smashed in and my car moved 8-10ft forward over a curb and front end smashed into another car. From the information I can piece together since I wasn’t able to witness it the accident a Jeep Cherokee reversed into my car and left. From the accident driver report that I have the driver did not have a license but wasn’t the registered owner of the vehicle. On the accident report it says the registered owner came back who I assume called the police department and was the one who filed the police report. The accident happened at 8pm we didn’t know about the accident until we got out until around 9pm. Am I able to sue the registered owner or their insurance company for property damage? Especially since it sounds like the person who did not have their license did not face any legal consequences.
Any advice is greatly appreciated thank you!

Do you have collision/comprehensive on your auto policy? If so, report to your insurance and let them sort it out.
You don’t sue the insurance company. You can get the insurance details of the person the car is registered to and file a claim. If that fails, then you can sue that person and the driver.
I don’t think you can sue. If the insurance companies cant settle it i think your only option would be small claims court. . but I’m no lawyer nor giving legal advice
