Location: South Carolina. My last employer came to me out of the blue a couple years back and told me that our insurance company wanted to talk with me about changing one of my specialty meds to a generic or have it shipped from Canada due to high costs. I was told I didn’t have to change anything and I didn’t. About a few months later I was let go with the only reason of ‘going in a different direction’. I have suspicions that the insurance company told my employer about my specialty medicine and I was fired due to the high costs associated with it. Was this at all legal? The sharing of info, the firing? I’m on the same medicine now and want to make sure I know my rights at future positions.
