I’ve been married to my husband for a year. The only thing we have ever argued about is his mother. She is extremely manipulative of her husband and three sons and they all think she’s a Saint on earth. It does drive me a little crazy that my husband can’t or won’t see through her manipulation.
That brings to last night. His parents are staying with us for the weekend and his mom and I had a small disagreement about something. This woman burst into tears and ran up to the room she was staying in. My husband ran up after her!
After about 10 minutes they came back downstairs with her face and eyes all red and my husband sat her down next to my FIL and went into a he kitchen to make her some tea. Meanwhile, I was just sitting there with my mouth gaping. I’d never seen anything like this.
I asked him this morning why he did that and all he’d say is that I was fine.
I really think that my love for him died a little when he chased his mother upstairs. Can one thing like that utterly destroy a relationship? I feel empty and sad.
TLDR: Husband chose MIL over me; not sure I can overcome this.
