Ive only ever been dress coded in middleschool when I was just coming into myself and my new style. Most of them were kind of reasonable (I was trying to fit in with the cool kids and wore crop tops sometimes), but there were two instances that made me feel really creeped out about the teachers who noticed them (both male).
First time was when I was wearing one of the tank tops (not spaghetti strapped) that criss-crossed in the back. So part of the top half of my back was open. It was a tank top sold in the kids section of Walmart with one of those fake training bras sewn into it, which resulted in even less of my back showing. I had changed into it for gym, and then went and started walking around the track before class started and my male gym teacher had pulled me aside and asked me to change back into the shirt I was wearing before I changed. I said I didnt want to sweat into it (I was a very athletic child), he said that I should’ve thought of that before wearing an inappropriate top. Keep in mind that a lot of the other boys in my class were wearing those extreme basketball tanktops that had arm holes that nearly cut down to the waist.
Another time was really sad for me because it was a really cute winter outfit. Yes, I said winter, most of my body was covered because it was freezing outside but I still managed to get dresscoded. Basically, the top I was wearing was a sweater, but it was designed so that you could pull it off your shoulders. So I had a tank top and my normal bra under it (two straps wasnt good enough coverage I guess) and I pulled it down off my shoulders. It wasnt like far down either, id say it only went as far down as my clavicles were, you couldn’t even see my armpits. And, yet again, I get pulled aside by another male teacher and they made me pull the sweater up, over my shoulders. Because the sweater was not designed to be worn that way it looked chunky and weird and I had to basically hold it up like it was a blanket wrapped around me the rest of the day.
My little sister is beginning middle school this year and shes starting to transition out of the little kid clothes my mom buys her into more of her style and Im so worried some creepy ass grown adult male is gonna pin point something on her that is somehow inappropriate when they’re the only ones who seem to notice.

Dress codes suck and the lame excuses people try to justify them with suck even more. As long as someone isn’t coming to school with pornography or bigoted slurs on their clothes they should be able to wear whatever they want.
I got school uniform code violations because of bleach stains on my knickers in primary school. The nuns noticed but I had to keep wearing them because we couldn’t afford more of the required green knickers and kept getting in trouble.
