Can you back out from a conditional offer?

r/

Can you back out after signing a conditional offer? I passed the written and physical tests for some of my preferred instate picks but that’s where the process is for those.

I recently signed a conditional offer for a department that’s last on my list and it’s across the country. I’ve had a ride along at the department and another neighboring department. All the officers tell me to apply somewhere else.

Could I reject the offer after signing?

Here’s the dilemma I’m 37 and my preferred agencies have 38 as the cutoff age. So it’s either continue with the process with these departments and maybe not getting an offer or should I suck it up for about 3 years then come back to the area and apply to a neighboring state?

If officers that work there are telling you not to work there, I’d strongly recommend not working there. Of course you can back out on a conditional, just tell them thanks but you’re no longer interested at this time.

You want to be in LE or not? If you’re willing to give it all up and take your chances with another agency rather than one that will hire you right now then go ahead

It’s just a job, you can quit any time.
