My friend told me to look at a girl we know’s close friends story on instagram, and that girl was talking about how painful it was for her to get an iud. Which we were confused as she just got a hysterectomy maybe a month or two ago. My friend asked her about it and the girl said that she still kept her cervix. To which I was even more confused cause the iud goes through the cervix into your uterus. I have caught this girl in a lie a couple of times but i’m just wondering what she would gain from lying about this. and i’m wondering like is there some way she could still get an iud?? some how?? i assume maybe she means she just needs to be on hormones but wouldn’t the arm insert work for that, but she specified how painful the iud was and and specified she still has a cervix. so i don’t think she meant the arm implant. i’m not that close with this girl she’s a friend of my partner and it’s not even my business but i’m just so confused right now. i saw pictures of her scars and her uterus on the surgical table (she overshares on her story a lot lol). so i don’t think she lied about that 😵💫 i’m just so lost

IUD stands for intrauterine device. If you have no uterus, you have nowhere for the IUD to be placed.
No. A hysterectomy removes the uterus. The uterus is where they put the IUD.
This person is either very confused or a liar.
Hysterectomy = no uterus
No uterus = pregnancy impossible
I don’t know of any reason to get an IUD other than preventing pregnancy
It’s possible she had an IUD before the hysterectomy, of course
Lots of things could be going on here. She could be lying about the hysterectomy, or about the IUD, sure (not like it’s hard to find photos of stuff like that online). But it could also just be a case of her using the wrong word to describe a medical procedure.
I just did a google search for “hysterectomy iud” to see if I could find anything about that, like maybe IUDs being used in some weird way post surgery or something, but it doesn’t seem to be a thing, so idk.
No. The IUD goes in the womb. It doesn’t make any sense at all why you’d even need one after a hysterectomy. Hysterectomy renders a woman unable to be pregnant with a viable pregnancy. It’s still possible to have an ectopic pregnancy, but that’d be really bad luck.
I don’t know if she’s lying or misunderstanding her situation, but she can’t have an IUD without a womb.
Only if your doctor’s playing Sims on hard mode.
Someone here is mistaken on the real story.
This girl did not get a hysterectomy lol
Photo of her uterus on the surgery table? And how exactly would she get that while under anesthesia?
How could you?
No. IUD stands for intrauterine device. A hysterectomy is a surgery to remove the uterus. There’s no uterus for an IUD to be intra to.
Either she’s lying about the hysterectomy or she’s lying about the iud.
She’s just lying.
You don’t need one if you don’t have a uterus.
From google ai: With a supracervical hysterectomy, where only the upper part of the uterus is removed, leaving the cervix intact, an IUD (intrauterine device) can be considered for contraception or heavy bleeding treatment, but it’s crucial to discuss the risks and benefits with a healthcare provider as menstrual cycles may continue
She might be lying, might not. I had an iud inserted while i had my tubes removed bc my periods are so rough.
Maybe you should educate yourself on IUDs. If you have no uterus you have no place to put one and you wouldn’t need one because you cannot get pregnant anyway.
Hysterectomy is like a super major surgery. She would have been barely able to get up for like weeks. Maybe se got her tubes tied? But then you still wouldn’t need an iud. She might have gotten an ablation which is where you like burn the inside of your uterus to help with endometriosis. Idk how that affects fertility tho so that might be what happened.
She’s lying. And not that smart.
Did she confuse hysterectomy with hysteroscopy?
I had a hysterectomy and have no uterus, cervix or fallopian tubes.
The best I can assume is she got words mixed up and meant a tubal ligation or maybe even an oophorectomy, because no you wouldn’t be able to get an IUD without a uterus.
No
