Can’t stop crying

r/

Hello 🙂

Anytime I get frustrated at work I immediately burst into tears and it takes me an age to calm down. I’m not upset, I just feel unfairly picked on. I do my job (night shift at mcdonalds), while others are playing away on their phones. They don’t get pulled up for it, but if I don’t pick up every piece of lettuce off the floor I get butcher at? Frustrated. I’m not upset, I’m angry is anything. How do I stop crying at every opportunity? 😅

Apologies if this isn’t the right subreddit. If there’s a more appropriate one I’ll go there! 🙂

Get out of there, just find another place to work at.

you’re entitled to your own feelings and your body reacts to it however it can, not your fault that it happens

if possible, try to find another place to work? maybe transfer? (i don’t know what your circumstances are, sorry if that was insensitive)

This is embarrassing to cry at work. Do you cry when you get mad? I do and I hate it! This may be why you are having a hard time not crying. Only advice, switch shifts or jobs or condition self to think to yourself “ eff them” and ignore

I totally get it. I tend to cry at the smallest upset, but the way I’ve found helps is to remove whatever is upsetting you. If someone says something and you feel the tears coming up turn away or leave the room. Even if that doesn’t work it’s alright to be emotional

You are the guardian of your own mind.

I’m like this and the only thing that gets me to stop crying is to count backwards from 100 in my head by 7. I think to myself “100-7=93; 93-7=86; 86-7=79; 79-7=72” and on like that. You can choose any number to subtract or add from 100. Your mind focuses on doing the math and distracts your brain from thinking about whatever it is that is causing you to cry.

I wish I knew this when I was a kid in school. It would have helped me avoid so much stress.
