Hey.
Location: Eugene, Oregon
I was just terminated from a caregiving company. I was on an outting with my client in a very sunny area. Me, my client, and a high-position manager(basically owner of company), and 3 witnesses were driving there via car. We arrived at the area and i reach into the back of the car to pick up a bottle of sunscreen out of a large tote bag.
The official action report states that the high-position manager verbally told me “____ that’s my bag do not touch it.” This is a lie. She did not communicate her expressions or tell me anything during me grabbing the sunscreen. It says on the report that I ignored her. She did not communicate with me.
This bag was apparently the property of that high-level manager(basically owner of company). I assumed it was a community asset. This car is used very often for outtings as such and often has tools in the back to support clients through their trips. There was no warning or statement that made me believe otherwise.
I applied sunscreen to my client and returned the bottle to the bag. Nothing was said. After the event was over I was asked (this is on record and IS true) “Where is my sunscreen?”
The very next day I did not recieve a warning. Nothing verbal or written was said. I was just suspended. For 3 days+ ‘pending investigation’ without being able to work. I was kicked out of the company applications and cannot contact anyone. The owner of business wasn’t even in their office to talk out the situation.
This feels super bad. I was supplying my client with a basic need and absolutely nothing was said during the event, and zero warning was given. Do i have any kind of case? Kinda bullshit.
