Carvana sold me a “certified” car that needed $2,000+ in repairs within a month. What are my options?

r/

I bought a 2013 Infiniti G37x from Carvana in late 2024. It was labeled “Carvana Certified” and supposedly passed their 150-point inspection. But less than a month after I got it, I started having serious problems:
• 🚨 Water pump failed
• 🔥 Coolant leaking onto the engine
• 🧰 Major gasket replacements
• 🧾 Still leaking oil
• 🔧 Brake calipers seized
• 🔋 Battery terminal corroded and loose

I had to take it to an Infiniti dealership and spend over $2,000 in repairs out of pocket. That doesn’t even include the $350 warranty deductible I paid, plus a high-interest loan that I was basically forced into when financing through Carvana.

I’ve contacted Carvana, but so far, nothing. I’m preparing to file complaints with:
• The FTC
• The North Carolina Attorney General
• The BBB
• And I’m sharing everything publicly to warn others

This has completely wiped me out financially. I haven’t even been able to afford the oil leak repair yet. I feel scammed.

What legal or consumer protection options do I have? Has anyone actually gotten reimbursed by Carvana?

What does “certified” actually mean in this context?

Used car sales are typically “as-is” with no liability on the seller for future repairs unless they knew about and concealed some major issues or didn’t honor a warranty or guarantee of some sort.

Used cars are sold as is. Doesn’t carvana give you a month to return the car? What did the warranty cover? Everything you listed sounds like it should be more than $2000 especially considering the coolant intrusion.
