Chef Boyardee is better straight from the can

r/

Ravioli especially is better at room temp than warmed up. The sauce is thicker and is way more convenient.

I don’t often eat it anymore, but when I do, just pop the top and go to town.

I’ve actually never had it straight from the can, but it doesn’t sound bad at all.

In all 3 of my pregnancies, raviolios straight from the can was the only meal I could stand to eat without getting nauseous. Not in a bowl and definitely not warmed up.

Pregnancy does weird stuff to you, man.

Yep, heating it makes it taste worse.

Idk man I like to pour mine into a nice pint glass personally, but I think we all agree a draught chef boyardee just can’t be beat.

Never actually had it but in The Last of Us when they eat it out the can it sure looks good

As someone who eats it straight from the can; better? nope. More convenient and good enough to where i don’t want to wash a pan and a dish? yes

it’s only better via convenience; but not for taste experience

Disagree on temp, but when I go camping I’ll often grab a bunch of cans of stuff like that. Dinty Moore stew, most chef boyardee stuff, some sort of veggie, and open the lid like 90% (so it can vent and easily open when its done) and then push it into the coals of the fire. Rotate em a couple times over the course of like 20 minutes, and then realize I have no easy way to hold the can as I hot potato it trying to eat out of it with a spoon. Good times.

It’s probably not better in the culinary sense… but in the right moment, it’s absolutely better in the emotional sense.

Kind of off topic- When i was much younger and poorer, i’d punch a hole in the top and set it over the pilot light on the gas stove to warm until i got home from work. I don’t miss those days.

Cans are lined with plastic now so it’s not a great idea to cook in them.

I (63M) haven’t had canned pasta at any temperature since I was a teenager.

I’ll die on this hill with you brother. Raw dogging the chef is the only way.

I eat my SpaghettiOs the same way, room temperature right out of the can. Why bother with a bowl?

  15. JaeCrowe Avatar

I only ever eat things from a can at room temperature. Much better

I feel the same way about Spahetti-Os honestly.

I actually eat everything right from the can… soups… clam chowder… chilli… beans… fruit… olives…. Sardines… etc. To me this is quick easy comfort food and I already know it’s cooked. Chef boy and spaghettiOs are amazing from the can.

Its actually best when you find it during a dystopian apocalyptic future

Otherwise wise save it for said apocalypse.  No reason to eat it otherwise
