My [21 F] parents are thinking of self-deporting, my brother [11] is very intelligent and gifted and we think it would be better if he were to stay with me. He is born here, raised here but I was wondering how to start the process of gaining custody of him. What do I need and will we have to go to court? Both my parents agree with this decision so it would be voluntary.

You could adopt your brother. He would legally be your child (along with all the responsibility that entails)
You would be the parent until he is an adult, just as if he were a child of your own.
You would be doing a “relative adoption” and the court would be involved.
