CHP Academy

Had a question regarding the academy. I found that while in the academy you live there for the duration of the training but on most weekends you have then off except for when you have to attend training. For the time you have off do you live on the base or do you leave for the weekend to go back home then return the following monday? I ask this because based on where I would reside, the drive to the academy would be 7 hours long
