All they do is make your clothes a little less wrinkled. It is a poor substitute for being able to use steam and press the wrinkles out of your clothes leaving them crisp looking. I would 1000x rather iron.

I did notice this the other day. I never care about my clothes being wrinkly and my partner does. I wanted to put in effort the other day so I steamed the button up I was wearing that day. It really doesn’t get the wrinkles out, just softens them a bit.
Steamers are meant to be quick/portable solutions to wrinkles. When I wake up in the morning and realize my shirt is super wrinkled, I don’t wanna have pull out an ironing board and iron. The steamer works in like 2 minutes and is fine enough
Very few people will claim that it’s a substitute, because it’s not. It’s meant to be a quick bandaid to the problem when you need it, not to replace ironing board completely

Steam the night before and a couple good tugs gets me 90% there for 50% of the effort.
Not unpopular, this is just facts. Steamer is equivalent to a drive through car wash. It’s easy, convenient, and time efficient but the results are just okay/good enough.
Ironing is equivalent to a hand car wash. Takes a bit more work, time, and effort but results are going to be the best.
