Hi! this is a random question but once in a while i’ll get a tiktok or smth related to cold sores or herpes and start to feel super self conscious so I want to get some opinions from people. I most likely have herpes (never tested but shown symptoms). Probably from an uneducated adult kissing me as a baby. I have only had about 4/5 cold sores in my life (18 years old) so not often but have definitely had some. I make sure not to share anything or kiss anyone when I do have an outbreak. And the one person I have been romantically involved with has never caught it from me. But I see so many people who say that it’s contagious even when there isn’t an active outbreak or people who say they wouldn’t date someone who gets them even tho there are ways to avoid spreading. I’m just wondering what peoples opinions are on them because I’m scared about how I’ll tell future partners if this is such a bad thing to a lot of people. I don’t want people to be disgusted by me for smth I couldn’t control.

Girl literally half the planet has oral herpes, you’re not gross or broken. Most ppl got it as kids from kisses or shared drinks, not even sexual. Just be honest w/ future partners, if they freak out they’re probs not worth your time anyway.
I used to get them as a kid. Simplex is something that many many people have and it doesn’t always mean herpes. I haven’t had one for many years but would get them time to time. Get tested and try not to worry
