unless you’ve got a huge or tiny dick diameter (mostly the diameter matters, length is less relevant), most standard condoms will fit well enough.
The condom should be pretty stuck on the penis and only come off when you start to push/roll it up from the base. If it comes of when you pull the tip, it’s probably not tight enough or you’ve used lube below the condom, which is incorrect.

I think you need to consider the brand of shampoo when you’re doing this type of research. If it was Head and Shoulders, of course it’s going to be more grippy than a nice even Pert Plus.
Ask your partner what brand of shampoo best represents them then restart the experiment with that brand. The type of mattress can matter too but not nearly as much.
