Consistent Payroll Issues

I’ve been with my employer for nearly 20 years and have had very few issues concerning my pay until recently. Late last lear, my employer changed their accounting and payroll provider which has caused some difficulties. According to HR, it’s now a more complex way of paying everyone (180+ employees) and they’ve had some “growing pains” adjusting to the new system.

The majority of my compensation is commission based. There are some basic calculations needed to be done at month’s end and my pay varies from month to month. Obviously, slight errors can occur but for the last 8 months, I’ve not received a correct paycheck. That is, it’s usually short by a significant amount and I’ve had to engage the payroll department for correction. Ultimately, within a few days, the errors are corrected and I receive an additional check to sort it all out.

I have concerns that throughout all of this, other areas are being affected. Am I having the proper amount of taxes paid when multiple checks are issued? Is the correct amount of money being deposited in my retirement account? It just seems so messy when my pay is not correct on pay day. Above all, it’s a pain in the ass to chase down my money.

What legal recourse, if any, do I have to ensure that my pay gets correctly calculated? After 8 months straight, it’s almost feeling deliberate now. I’ve been with my employer for a long time so I don’t want to hurt them but how can I effectively let accounting and HR know that this is unacceptable?
