Cooked for plagiarism?

r/

My friend is in a discord that had her entire class in it for a class that isn’t even apart of her major,
One of her classmates put an answer to the test in the discord (which I did not use) and now the entire class is getting flagged for plagiarism, many of us are/were weeks away from graduating. She has a meeting with faculty tomorrow.
Any advice?
Don’t have enough karma to post on r/college

That sounds really stressful, especially so close to graduation. Your friend should be honest, explain she didn’t use or share the answer, and emphasize her own work. It might help to bring any proof like timestamps, drafts, or study notes that show she didn’t cheat. Wishing her the best in the meeting.

    1. Is there a way of assessing whether or not / who accessed the discord since the answer was posted? If people didn’t access it, pretty easy way out.
    2. if she got the problem wrong then didn’t use the material (here’s to hoping she got it wrong) and she should be cleared
    3. there is a formal appeal process that actually tends to favor students more than faculty
    4. class not being a part of your major isn’t relevant
