I wish cops would show the same compassion for some of the people they “investigate”, as they do for their fellow cops being “investigated” for the same crime. Seen a lot of it lately. Blows my mind. Like DUI’s particularly. A Terrible crime, normal person… trying so hard to get them in handcuffs. Fellow police officer, giving them every chance to get out of it, even with the smell of alcohol. Double standards. Guilty is Guilty. But treat everyone the same. Badge or not.

lol you think this is unpopular?? …on Reddit especially
When studying for my criminal justice degree the sheriff said something that really stuck with me.
Being a cop is the only job in the world where one guy f*cks up and ALL of them are scrutinized for it.
AKA…despite what you see in the media or in a particular town… most cops are normal people just doing their jobs. Most aren’t corrupt. Most dont do crappy work. They do what they can and have good intentions. But all of that goes out the window when one of their own does shady things like this. Nothing they say or do will matter. Heck, for this reason sometimes cops come down HARDER on each other because this loss of reputation.
Unfortunately with this current administration we are seeing more of those bad cops come out because they know they can get away with anything right now.
This must be an American thing in my country, which is Norway nine times out of 10 the cops are polite, kind, and helpful. I’ve had to deal with cops on some occasions both in the US when I lived there in Norway in all honesty the cops were super helpful in the US and they were super helpful in Norway even when I have to deal with a very drunk person they just talk to him. They helped him out. they took him to their car no handcuffs needed. They drove him home.
