County sheriff/fire department damages

r/

Hey all. Long story short, there was a wreck on the road next to my property. Everyone was okay. Someone from the Sheriff’s office took a truck along with a 1 ton dually fire truck in my yard next to where the car had wrecked. Did pretty significant damage to my yard. They have left and I didn’t get to talk to anyone. Am I just left with the bill to get my yard fixed? Looks to be pretty expensive for someone to come repair as the ruts are over a foot deep in spots. Kentucky and in the county btw. Thanks

    Call the agency who responded

Call the agencies involved – they may help fix it as a courtesy however they’re pretty much exempt from being sued if they were performing their duties and weren’t negligent.

i think you’re sol because they had a wreck to respond to. I ain’t no landscaper, but I don’t really know how you would get your lawn “fixed” besides just throwing down some grass seed and smoothing the ruts over somehow.

In many cases, they will have a damages form.

Depends on the State in question, but to suggest they’re exempt from damages would not be true in several States.

You can call the departments or you can try to make a claim with the city/county. It doesn’t even look like it’s planted grass though so having them repair that would do very little. The easiest thing would be to roll it flat with a turf roller to get rid of the ruts and let it grow back. It’ll look normal again before the end of summer.

Claim it on the insurance from the parties that had the collision and on the city/county that the PD/FD belong to.

call the agency, they might have someone come out and fix it.
