I work at a restaurant chain as a server, last Friday I worked a double shift, the last few days I was dealing with a sore throat after 9 hours of working straight after my shift I was dealing with an uncontrollable runny nose and cough. The next day i was off and I gave my shift away for the following Sunday to all employees around 5pm someone had picked it up but it still needed to be approved by a manager. It hadn’t been approved all night and the way it works if it isn’t approved it is still my shift. So I message the person who picked it up and he said he was going to call in the morning to say he will be coming in for my shift because I’m sick. Sunday comes and I’m still sick. I have a shift on Monday morning that I give away as well. My coworker messages me saying our manager went up to her saying that I’m a liar, I’m not sick that I’m just hungover from a party I went to and that’s why I called in and then proceeded to say she’s going to fire us all one by one. I was furious when I heard this because Ive only called in 2 other times in the year and a half I worked here. It’s Thursday and I’m still sick. I haven’t been to work since but I plan on going in tomorrow. How do I go about this? Should I confront her?

Your manager crossed a line and you need to speak up. Stay calm but be direct so she knows you will not let lies or disrespect slide.
