Long story short, I got unlucky and couldn’t find any actual student housing in Florida. So I had to settle on an apartment with a roommate that I did not know beforehand. That was about 10 minutes outside campus. What I did not know was that she had something called bipolar psychosis and for the first few months everything was fine. But things got worse and worse and I was unable to move out as I was locked into a one-year lease and I had already paid for several months up front because of the demand in the area.
This girl ended up going into a bipolar episode. One night smashed up all my belongings totaling about $10,000 in damages. And broke a hole in the wall. I called the police and they said that since we are both on the lease that this would be a very complicated thing to do. They told me I could get a restraining order on her but they also told me that they feared that my safety was at risk given that it was a smaller town.
I eventually had to cut my college short and fly back to where I live in another state and this whole thing ended up costing me about $20,000 in personal damages. This was from the rent I’d paid up fronts and the 10,000 in damages she calls to my belongings.
She never apologized for it. And while she is in a public figure or anything, she is someone that has nothing else to do because she inherited a lot of money and has a lot of time on her hands. So she has been spending every minute of the last 4 months since I’ve gotten out of there. Trying to twist the story to make yourself seem better.
I was on the phone with several friends while she was going crazy and smashing my stuff. I also took videos of it as well.
I’m now getting threatened on social media/ my personal phone number from guys that are complete strangers threatening to beat me up for what I did and it’s very confusing because even when I show them the police report it clearly stating that I was not the one causing the crime. They still go on and on. And a lot of them just seem interested in having s*x with her.
I know that she has $50,000 in the bank. I really do not want anything out of her financially. But I do not know how to proceed with this
