There are men all over every social media platform doing this. It’s super gross. Sorry that it happened to you too. Hell, I’ve had this happen on LinkedIn.
I just preemptively have all DMs turned off. I have never had a good experience with a stranger DMing me and am not worried about missing out on someone “cool” wanting to message me. THEY’RE NEVER COOL.

My DM’s were off within a few hours after getting a reddit account, cause males be maleing

I usually hit ignore on a few messages a day. If I post anything about sex, even something very non-sexy, I have to hit ignore on 10-20 of them.
Turn your chats private so this doesn’t happen. I also used to get messages (from men from all kinds of subreddits) until i realized i had the option of blocking them from contacting me altogether
Turn off direct messaging. They’ll have to request to message you. Just deny it. That’s what I do! 🙂
I can guarantee any time I comment that my preference is big, hairy men I’m going to get gross messages. The rest of the messages I get are from disgruntled men accusing me of being a bitch, a slut, and obese.
I put in my bio or whatever it is you want to call it here and said “don’t dM me i won’t awnser” and it stopped by like 80%. I still get randos but I just block and move on. It’s gross and I hate it.
Yeah, same. Its always from a post I’ve replied to here too. But at first was so annoyed but now the messages are just funny and block.
I’ve never had this happen to me here (or anywhere, really) – I guess I’m off-putting even in text? – but your situation is not rare. Not sure it’s the most typical experience, but there’s definitely a subset of women that have to deal with this nonsense.
