DAE eat food and get the ick and need to spit it out?

r/

It mostly happens to me with chicken but pretty rarely. It’ll be the best food and halfway through I’ll be chewing and get grossed out. I usually end up spitting out the bite and not eating the rest.

happens 2 me sometimes 2. ick is weird. food just does that i guess. chicken can b tricky. ya know, texture n all that. just how it is sumtimes.

Chicken breasts and tenders sometimes has left over gristle like ligaments or artery. If not cut out completely it shrivels and becomes chewy. That often can make me gag

  3. Forsaken-Spread-2872 Avatar

Yes, this happens to me. Even if i like the food. Either i NEED to spit it out, or I NEED  water.

I’ve had two occasions where the first bite or two of a chicken cheesesteak made me involuntarily vomit. Interesting that this was the only two occasions that this ever happened and it was chicken.

I get it with pudding and yogurt. I just have to take slow small bites.

  6. Lucky_Respect_2311 Avatar

Oh, yeah. I get the ick sometimes too. I thought it was because it was a way for my body to tell me I’ve had enough sustenance.

Yep, happens to me sometimes. Scrambled eggs or ground meat are usually the culprit. With the ground meat, it doesn’t even matter what form it’s in. It can be mixed in to a tomato sauce, in a taco, a burger, doesn’t matter. I’ll still sometimes have that one bite that gives me the ick.

Hard boiled eggs, and an over ripe banana.

  9. Embarrassed-Example8 Avatar

I get that sometimes with eggs

Only when I have eaten the same food item at multiple sittings.

my mom would steam her chicken drumsticks which would FUCKIN ruin them- skin all chewy, meat all chewy, the tendons all super chewy.

this was the reason I became vegitarian.

but then I learned how to cook and fell in love with chicken and other meats

but after eating tons of different foods- I get MAJOR ick when eating sardines. It tasted literally like a dead fish- i know that’s what it is but still lol.

also i generally hate the taste of pork- i didnt grow up eating it so it tastes really dirty.

some processed pork I will enjoy tho- chorizo is heavily seasoned pork sausage that hides the pork flavor.

I also like bacon and sausage patties. (They have more flavor than just pork)

Absolutely. If I eat something I don’t want, I’ll spit it out into a napkin.

    Eggs and cheap ramen noodles

I used to do that…I’d be happily eating along then the bite in my mouth…I know it’s the last one and it’s not going down easy…end up I have crons disease

i get this way with eggs sometimes. or most foods when i smoke for some reason, i get like the anti-munchies 😭

  16. Amazing_Finance1269 Avatar

I get this with sushi. I love it, but if I think about it too hard, I get the ick and gag.

  17. xCamm Avatar

Sometimes, though rarely do i have to spit it out.

It happens when chicken starts tasting a little too much like chicken… same with eggs. When eggs start tasting a bit too much like eggs, i feel awful eating them. This also depends on preparation of whatever dish your eating ofc.

  18. pinkstarburstenjoyer Avatar

It happens to me a few times a month. Used to be a few times a week and mainly with meat/eggs/cheese

  19. SerenityFate Avatar

If chicken has the wrong texture I can’t eat it. In general I eat really fast, stupid food scarcity issues as a child, so most of the time I can power through. Sometimes though not so much lol

  20. 215bettor Avatar

Sometimes right before I start eating I’ll get that feeling off the smell alone and I’ll debate whether or not to eat or just wrap it up for later. I always end up eating it and it’s fine. I just chug some cold lemon water right before and it settles me. I only get that feeling like once or twice a month.

  21. Long_Comfort3687 Avatar

Well I just stuffed myself with sushi and then had a hurting stomach for 5 hours and couldn’t drink water or else I would vomit. That’s how full I was. Finally I got to drink and oh that water tasted so cool and satisfying

I have a love hate relationship with eggs. I’m either disgusted at the thought of them or eating 3 boiled eggs for lunch

  23. Outer_Fucking_Space2 Avatar

I wish we would all just collectively stop using the word ick.

  24. excaligirltoo Avatar

Mostly with soggy bread of some sort.

  25. Vegetable_Morning740 Avatar

Since undergoing chemo , I get the ick eating. I never know when it’s going to hit but when it does … I’m DONE. Can’t even finish chewing . Frustrating and annoying. I have lost weight from it .

  26. shiny_chikorita Avatar

Yes this happens to me with chicken too!! Sometimes you just get a bite with a gross chewy part and then it’s hard for me to even eat the rest of the chicken.

  27. Available-Being-3918 Avatar

Yea and then at 49 they diagnosed me with autism.

  28. hollowbolding Avatar

i’d get it a lot as a kid while trying to eat meat but these days nothing really provokes my gag reflex unless it’s food that’s actively gone bad

  29. Flickeringcandles Avatar

This happens to me with meat if I bite into something crunchy or chewy

  30. mydogisfour Avatar

Yes especially the last 2-3 bites of most sandwiches and burgers…. I like them so it’s weird

  31. Maleficent_Scale_296 Avatar

If I feel a chunk of something. Worst offenders are hamburger, tuna and chicken nuggets.

  32. Ok-Kangaroo4613 Avatar

Stop eating meat and eggs 🙂

This happened to me once out of the blue in 1999 (cold lasagna with ground beef) and I stopped eating meat, and stopped eating other animals products about 10 years later. Plant foods don’t do this.

  33. cabbage-soup Avatar

yea but I’m pregnant and my food aversions are kicking in hardd

  34. sheisastandup Avatar

Yes , it happened last night there was fat on my chicken wing and I was done at that point

  35. bentscissors Avatar

This happens to me too, mostly when it’s some kind of protein.

  36. stevenwright83ct0 Avatar

People always say this about chicken. I’ve never experienced it. I can’t and will not even attempt to eat fish or shrimp (I eat other seafood) because it tastes so foul
