I don’t like Starbucks so I only go when someone gives me a gift card. The menu only has prices for grande (which means large but apparently they don’t consider it large.) I don’t have the app so they need to scan the gift card. They look lost when I have a gift card. Apparently everyone puts gift cards on the app? And they don’t even offer a receipt. Which I typically don’t care about but i want to see my balance after using the gift card. This is why I have 3 gift cards in my purse I haven’t used because I’m always a little frustrated after.

I have never had an issue using a gift card at Starbucks, and they have just checked my balance when I needed to know it
You may just need to request a receipt if they don’t give you one by default at the location you’re going to. I worked there briefly and the training was really scattered for me – the employees may just not really be familiar with the gift cards or something. It’s absolutely normal to use one and to ask for a receipt. You’re not doing anything unusual, if that helps you to feel a little better.
Downloading the app and ordering through there might just be easier for you, though. You won’t even need to speak to anyone if you do that. The app also shows your gift card balance.
No? I go everyday. So put it on the app and check your balance on the app. It’s not hard. Learning tall, grande, venti is not hard, either.
The sizing being tall, grande, and venti instead of small, medium, and large was a staple of mid 90s stand up comedy when Starbucks was expanding everywhere.
Yeah the menu does suck though. It’s like going to bar, you just kind of have to know what the drinks are and order it. They’re all common coffee drinks though.
I definitely understand you. It seems really tailored towards people who are regular Starbucks people, I often feel a little out of place since I really only go if I have a gift card (“put it on the app to collect rewards”, okay I go maybe twice a year, I’m not downloading an app). It’s not hard I just don’t feel like I’m enjoying the experience for their average price point.
I did at first but now I’ve gone too many times with my wife to where I’m used to it. I still hate how complex ordering coffee is though. Can’t they just number every option 1-100 so I can just tell them a number? 😂 My simple brain can’t remember other people’s orders, it feels like memorizing an essay.
I never order tall, grande, venti unless I’m using the app. If I’m in person I just straight up say small, medium, or large. I get so lost bc yeah, why is grande a medium
