It’s a really curious thing, isn’t it, how we might interpret the sound of our own clapping differently than others, perhaps it’s because we’re so attuned to the subtle nuances of our movements that it creates a unique sonic signature, and I’m left wondering if it’s just a trick of the brain, or something more fundamental, that makes us feel strangely connected… because it’s just, wow, that’s a lot to consider.
I’d guess it’s because you hear yourself clapping as both an external sound and an internal sensation/vibration. Kind of like how our voices sound different to us because of the acoustics inside our heads.
Oh for sure, but that’s not surprising. Of course your own clapping sounds different. You’re literally clapping right beside your own ears! I think people sometimes look for big mysteries even in the most basic things. Like, what are you thinking, that your clapping is gonna open a portal to a parallel universe? Relax, it’s just vibrations reaching your ears a bit differently because they’re attached to your head, not some cosmic conspiracy.
I usually try to clap the loudest. With practice, and over many years, I have experimented with adjusting the angle of my hands to produce a sharp sound which I believe is louder than the average clapper.
