DAE get kinda sad when you get to know someone and realize they are the exact person their parents wanted them to be

For better or worse it just kinda bums me out seeing someone who on the surface seems fine and normal. But when you get to know their parents you realize they didn’t get much of their own input considered when they were being raised.

I remember one guy in college I was friends with. You would think his dad was standing behind him all the time. His dad went to college, married during college, got a job, and had kids all before 23. And he did the exact same thing. He’s practically a clone of his dad right down to his mannerisms and “personal” rules and beliefs for himself.

It’s like there’s an empty space behind their eyes where a new person was supposed to be. But isn’t.

And it’s fine to an extent. If you’re happy and healthy then power to you. But it always makes me a little sad to see someone who appears to have never tried to form their own identity.

    No, I don’t get sad.
You are the product of your environment.
People are nuanced. They could have had their own identity without you knowing.
