Not even just photos of my friends and life. It could be a screenshot or a random screen recording. Unless it’s literally nothing I feel a weird ache when I have to delete it.
It feels a bit irrational but I feel like I can’t let it go since it once meant something to me
This came about when I was looking to clear up some storage and I accidentally permanently deleted a 8 minute screen recording of a game that was really dear to me.

Yes. I usually keep everything anyway.

THIS IS SO ME!! i thought i was the only one
SO BADLY
Yes, then I force myself to delete them for storage. Funny thing is after I delete them I always end up needing them for something.
I get attached to bits of fluff that spend too much time on my desk. I have this teeny tiny triangle of sticky paper (about 1/2 a cm wide) stuck on my desk at work that was left over from an address label (I was too lazy to throw it in the bin, so just stuck it doen), and now it’s my friend. It’s curling on the edges, and might fall off any day, but I keep smoothing him down because he belongs on my desk.
Too much empathy.
Hoarding tendencies
haha yes, I tend to be quite sentimental about literally anything
Yes! I have almost 3000 pictures in my phone. And that is after I deleted a few. It was painful 😜
Yeah. I think it’s a hoarding thing, which is a subset of ocd. Not saying you have it if you are like this, just imparting a fun fact
P.S. I think the reason why the video meant a lot is less to do with the game but more to do with the fact that my friends are in the video along with me playing the game. Ig I liked having it to watch back and remember a time where we were all so passionate about the gameÂ
Did you delete it from the recycling bin? I assume so, but just figured I’d ask, just in case it could be rescued. Sometimes I forget that thing is there.
As for the videos, I get it. It’s almost like it’s a piece of your life that you’d saved.
Someone mentioned OCD, but since you said you’re not the most neat person, undiagnosed ADHD would be a possibility too. 1 in 5 adults with ADHD are hoarders because it makes organization hard. Not everyone with those issues has ADHD, but it might be worth looking into and talking to a psychologist about.
Not really no. The pictures I take are for less for memories and more practical reasons like of a receipt or serial number of hardware which I delete after I no longer need. I have almost no pictures of events or with people etc and I’m quite camera shy so I avoid these kinds of photos as much as possible!
I actually do enjoy a bulk clean out and it’s probably about time I did a pass to clear out old photos but I’m not exactly hurting for space so I’ll probably get round to it next year. For reference, my camera folder currently has 775 items.
