Like the conversations always flow so smoothly and naturally and the guest always has the most charismatic answer. They all insult or flirt with the host

They are edited to get rid of all the “umm uhh” etc
I believe that guests are given the potential question list ahead of time, and then the host chooses from the list of questions given. It lets them both be fairly genuine while also making sure they can add or cut to time so that some interviews don’t run long
Like what a coincidence the guest just happens to have just written a book or is starring in a new movie.
They aren’t scripted, but the host and guests know what they are going to talk about in advance. For example, the host doesn’t just randomly ask “seen any good movies lately?” The host knows that the guest has a story about going to the movies, so they set them up to tell it. If the story gets bogged down or sidetracked, the host steps in to get it back on track. The better the host, the more natural the guest seems.
The conversations are planned ahead of time. The shows staff will ask them if they have any fun stories to tell, and then the host will T them up during the interview. Plus they’re edited too.
They have rehearsals like any other show. I’ve heard Conan talk about it.
Yeah, you’ve definitely got a point there. The conversations do seem too good to be spontaneous, right? I read somewhere that most of the time the guest and host go over talking points or topics beforehand. It doesn’t mean that the whole thing is scripted word-for-word, but they definitely know what they’re going to talk about. Scripts help some guests who might not normally be super chatty or funny because when you have a gameplan, it takes away the nervousness. Personally, nothing wrong with that. It’s kinda like going to a concert, you know it’s all rehearsed but it’s still fun. But yeah, once you start noticing it, it’s hard not to see it in every single show. Watching for those little rehearsed moments becomes kind of a fun game.
