DAE have moments where you’re suddenly so tired you can barely keep your eyes open?

r/

Happens a few time a year at random times. Sometimes I cant get out of bed in the morning and other times I’m hit with like, a wave of sleepy thats so intense I have to stop whatever I’m doing and lay down for a few hours. And in those hours, Im out. I dont think this is a normal thing that happens but, when ai brought it up to my doctor, they were like “thats weird. anyways”
So anyone else out there have these weird sleep fits?

I have stuff like this happen since I started night shift. Probably just cause my circadian rhythm gets confused. I don’t think I’m unhealthy or anything it’s just funky sleep hormones.

I remember I was driving midday once when I got hit with one. It was a three hour road trip and I literally physically couldn’t wake myself up. I blasted cool air at my face because I thought the warmth was making me sleepy. Then the cool air made me want to close my eyes even more. I eventually pulled over at a petrol station, parked the car, pushed my seat back and passed out. Woke up an hour later good to go and kept driving. I wasn’t sleep deprived or anything. Your body just has some very convincing ways to make you sleep and sometimes it gets confused.

It’s not the same for everyone tho, and if this is seriously affecting you, you should get a second opinion. But since it’s only happening a few times a year and isn’t a constant thing I wouldn’t be too stressed about it. Could just be your body fighting something off or doing some repairs 🙂

I feel that way during a part of my menstrual cycle. Might be related.

My sister just got diagnosed with a sleep disorder that causes her to feel this way every single day. She’s finally getting treatment and is finally fully living.

Could it be a thyroid issue? I knew someone who would get desperately sleepy and easily fall asleep anywhere. Turned out to be a non-cancerous tumor on their thyroid. But it happened frequently, not just a few times a year.
