Not like I go out of my way to treat them like shit, I just don’t want them anywhere near me. And, holy fucking shit the noise they make! Everything is screaming and crying and yelling. Ugh! Hard pass.
I wouldn’t say I hate them, but I can only stand to be around my nieces and nephew. It’s probably because when I was younger, I was babysitting an absolute TERROR of a child who threatened my life with a knife.
I did want to have one or two of my own when I was younger, but it never happened, and I’m ok with it. I can be the cool aunt!
Me! Maybe if I had younger siblings or a better home life growing up it would be different, but I’ve never thought they were cute or enjoyed being around them, and so I have no patience for them.
I had hoped I’d eventually find them more tolerable, but I’m in my mid 30s, and, admittedly, I get a little sad every time I hear another one of my friends is expecting bc I know how much less I’m going to want to be around.
I used to absolutely love kids. Actually wanted to open my own daycare. Then I had two kids and started working in a daycare to be able to be close to my kids and still make money. That was the end of me loving kids. I love my own kids but other people’s kids…. uh hell no…. can’t fuckin stand em lol
I had my own kids. I liked THEM. And their friends, most of the time (because obviously, they hung out with like-minded children). But, kids are OVERWHELMING if youbhave sensory issues. They stink, they’re loud, they don’t really have a good grasp on boundaries, yet.
Now that I’m not raising any, I don’t have much interest in hanging out with them unless they’re really cool. Which is rare, but it happens.
I used to despise them because I grew up with 5 siblings and I had a bunch of nieces and nephews running around too. I never wanted children either because I wanted my own space. Now that I’m older and moved out, I actually want kids!
Eh, it’s pretty much like adults. I like them, but
I can only handle being around them for so long. I will say though, kids like me. I think because I’m quiet, and I’m nice to them and try not to talk down to them. I remember being a kid and adults being pointlessly hostile or overbearing or ignoring me. I try to meet people on their own level.
I’ve never really understood the anti-kid circlejerk on reddit. The worst a kid is likely to be is bratty or annoying. Adults will ruin your fucking life on purpose and not even know why they’re doing it.
Not like, on purpose? I think individually I could tolerate a child, especially if they like arts and crafts like cutting and gluing or folding paper. I’m not exactly the babysitting type but if I had to, if I was the last semi-competent adult on the planet, I could possibly safely interact with and provide enrichment to a child.
I don’t know how to say something like that without it potentially coming off as creepy. I’m not a kiddie toucher I’m a grandpa fucker, just for reference.
No because everyone was once a child and children don’t chose to exist. Seems weird to hate them for something they can’t control. I think back to being a kid, you really don’t know much, you have no control, and you are learning new information all the time. Most adults can’t even cope with that short term experiences like that and kids do it for years.
I actually love the hell out of kids. I just don’t have the bandwidth for them 24/7. I’m uncle-brained but I’d gladly volunteer at children’s hospitals like I did as a teen with my friend Tyson. RIP, my dude.
I always saw myself as a less competent Patch Adams. Family joked about it for a few years after the movie… cartoon voices and stuff.
I also have a much more adult and explicit choice of lifestyles for my personal gratification and community collaboration. Many hobbies blend well with family who have kids.
Just one aunt on mom’s side has 20 grandchildren and immediately family have 2-3 each.
The whole family could use a childfree aunt and uncle pairing just for reliable time for themselves.
Just like Adults, there are a small amount of cool kids that chill and dont cry and scream over everything little thing that happens. luckily all my nephews and neice are super cool to hang out with or babysit. actually an enjoyable time, like hanging out with friends.
I don’t hate children in general, but there are certain types of children I do dislike very much and behaviors that I could live without. There are some children who I adore and some who I find to be very cute and pleasant. Teens are pretty okay because they can form at least half a conversation. Which is good because my job involves teaching teenagers.
Being around kids is like being around drunk people. When you have one of your kids with you, the other ones are less annoying. Its like drunk people aren’t so annoying if you are too.
I completely understand why kids annoy people. Hell other people’s kids sometimes annoy me. Before I had one, they all annoyed me. They’re loud, they’re unpredictable, some of them always touch/knock over/break stuff they’re not supposed to. Dealing with other people’s kids is often all of the bad with non of the good. You don’t get to sit in the rocking chair at night reading stories with a 3 year old in your lap and have them fall asleep on you. You don’t get to watch them learn how to say new words, do new stuff, and generally grow as a person. You’re just stuck with somebody’s brat kicking the back of your chair at the movie theatre.
That’s a kinda sociopathic thing to ask, all kids are the same? No! Much like their full grown counterparts they range from evil to angelic and everything in between! You sound like a small minded asshat!
i love kids. i don’t hold it against them when they’re annoying. it’s their first time doing pretty much anything so i cut them some slack. it’s the parents who let them do whatever they want that annoys me

I didn’t when I was younger. I had no interest in them at all until I was in my early 30s.

Nope. You’re the only one. Sorry pal

It’s a case by case basis, kind of like adults. Some kids are cool and chill and some are rude and annoying af. Kind of like adults.

There’s a whole subreddit dedicated to that…

Especially younger children

Some people thrive on the chaos and energy, others find it overwhelming or just not enjoyable

Kids are way overrated!
Just like Adults, there are a small amount of cool kids that chill and dont cry and scream over everything little thing that happens. luckily all my nephews and neice are super cool to hang out with or babysit. actually an enjoyable time, like hanging out with friends.
I used to love kids when I was younger , wanted to have so many , wanted to work with kids.
Skip to 20 something years later and I have one kid and I get annoyed with kids in general and rather not deal with them if I can help it.
I’m not mean to them , if they’re chill I’m chill.
I no longer love kids like I used to lol.
I used to really like babies and children. Then I was unable to have any. Now that I am old, I cannot even handle them in my Sims game.
Yeah I don’t like them, they’re annoying and grubby hahaha!
I didn’t even like kids when I was a kid.

My kiddo was the sweetest cutest little girl EVER! She‘s grown up now and is still really great!

I absolutely love kids. But I sure don’t like them a lot of the time.
Depends on the child, I think
Mostly ambivalent toward kids, but intense dislike for the parents that do not ‘parent’ for whatever reason
