I often do this for words that aren’t clear how they are written based on how they’re pronounced. A few others I use “busi-ness”, “fri-end”, “Cong-rat-ulations”.

I do that, too! I wish there was a way to do that on words like “necessary”. I always remind myself that C comes before S in the alphabet, and then I think 1, 2, so I remember there’s one C and two S’s.
Yes but you’re wild for saying “Cong-rat-ulations” instead of “Con-grat-ulations”
When I’m writing out Wednesday I will say it like wed-nes-day so I can spell it right.
As far as lasagna. I say it as la-sag-na just to be annoying lol
Feb-ru-ary
B-E-A-UTIFUL!
In my head, yes.
I say wed-nes-day semi often. Every once in a while I read other words like Feb-ru-ary that way.
Chi – hoo- a – hoo- a
To myself, yes. Out loud? Nope
And … ve-get-able, of course!
Bologna
I had a woman say “ree-sip-it” to me regarding my receipt and an HVAC guy ask me if I wanted a “dig-it-tul” thermostat.
La-sag-ne here! I didn’t realise there was an American and British spelling. We still call it lasagna though, weirdly. De-fin-ite-ly. Con-science.
Thought that was how you are supposed to do it?
Unless of course you are spelling M-I-Double S-I-Double S-I-PP-I
Fe bru ary
As a joke sometimes.
Yes I do this in my head when writing. 👍
fri-end and wed-nes-day are forever in my head because my third grade teacher. for friend it was “you fry your ends with good friends” and i was a fan of earthbound, she knew of the game, so she had “wed ness day – you remove the extra s because he isn’t in a dress”
So, a little etymology on the word Wednesday. It originated in old Germanic languages as the day of the good woðen.
everyone does this.
No because real g’s move in silence like lasagna
100 yes! This is why the Berenstein/Berenstain Bears thing drives me mad. I read those books to my little sister every night, and am sure I pronounced them Berenstein. lol

I do it, but only to annoy the heck out my wife
De-finite-ly gets said in my head every time
To-get-her.
Veg-et-ta-bel
Sometimes, but not always.
This sub is either posts of things we all do pretty commonly or posts of things that rarely anyone ever does and may have never heard of before. Nothing in between, lol.
Not I. For some reason that’s been a mystery to me I’ve excelled at spelling since first grade. Was 2 grades ahead until middle school and when I learned to type in typing class less than a week in I was vastly ahead of everyone else in terms of speed with no mistakes without even trying hard (mid 40s wpm vs 20 or less for everyone else). Maybe because I played piano too. I didn’t start reading for fun until 9th grade when classmates were recommending Lord of the Rings.
Bottom line is I rarely had to think about spelling except for rarely used words.
Con-ven-i-ence
Yes, also in Spanish be (pronounced beh not bee) a-u-ti-ful
Sar-sap-arilla
“spelt”
Is it not “spelled”?
yes, since elementary school.
Feb. ru. Rary.
I have recently had to start doing that for ‘beautiful’. I guess it’s age.
My kid was in the guard in hs marching band and I purposely pronounced it gu-ard so I would remember how it was spelled.
That’s called phonetics and it is how we used to learn to spell and read.
ya, I do that sometimes. words can be weird. ya know?
Pe-o-ple

Check out the comedian advocating for silent letter day!
I pronounce the L in salmon.
I am reminded of Zapp Brannagain saying Sham-pag-n (champagne)
Spelled
Tom-or-row
Gwaarrr-untee.
So-crates
(Make an) Ass (out of) -u- (and) me
I mean, I say “extraordinary” as “extra-ordinary” and “omnipotent” as “Omni-potent”
Conscience
No, but I can’t pronounce abominable unless I picture a bomb and a bull.
El i gi bi li ty. Hate typing that word!
Jal-ap-ano -Ricky LeFlur
I always pronounce the c in scissors. It’s just natural now
Yup, some I use are
Penn-syl-vania
And
Yose-mite
Yeah but just in my head.
Wow yes. When I was a child I had so much difficulty with Wednesday because the accent round here is terrible and it just sounds like people are saying ‘wensday’ LOL. I still say wed-nes-day to spell it 😂
It’s no longer to ensure I spell it correctly, I know how to now. It’s just a force of habit. I also got to get her.
Anytime I write out Wednesday I say Wed nes day.
Yes! Resta-u-rant
The shit is Bananas. B A N A N A S
yes
I learned how to spell Encyclopedia from Jiminy Cricket, and I still sing the letters to myself.
Weddingnessday
I once saw a restaurant with “Lazania” on the menu, and I thought it was awesome.
For the rest, sometimes I do. I can write “Februrary” but I always get lost at the word “necessity”
I say it that way in my head to remember how to apell it, but i would never say that out loud. I say “business”, but when spelling, i think “bus-i-ness”

I remember how to spell Wednesday because of its origin: Woden’s Day
No – but some words I pronounce them like you describe in my head so I can spell them correctly
Wed-nes-day not so much. Full geek: Woden’s day!
