[DC comics]would wonder woman’s laso of truth work on Dr manhattan?

r/

Assuming Dr manhattan lets the laso insnare him. Could he override the laso with thoughts he’s had in the past. Given how he experiences time differently I’m not sure how the laso would work on him.

Given that he’s a reality warper who experiences time nonlinearly is it even possible for him to make false statements? Is it possible for him to make true statements?

Dr. Manhattan, as he is in most of Watchmen, would be affected by the supernatural powers of the lasso.

Dr. Manhattan, as the opening hand at the beginning of the DCU timeline, would/could just decide to not be affected.

Dr. Manhattan doesn’t seem to have power over “magic” and seems to mostly deal with the physical world. In theory a magic device could probably work on him, so long is it didn’t cause damage/change to his form since he has control over said form.

That said, I think the issues about “having to tell the truth” are the same questions everyone always asks when confronted with such things. “What if I tell a half truth, what if it’s technically not a lie, what if I said I didn’t eat the pie but actually I put it in a blender with some ice cream and drank the milkshake it made”.

I think if Dr Manhattan let someone ensnare him with the lasso it would compel him to tell the truth (as he saw it) but he would be just as resistant to telling the truth as anyone else and could probably lie and say his real name is batman or something.

He would decide if the laso worked on him?

I’m not sure if he would see the point in trying to resist it in the first place. If Diana wants to ask questions what reason would he have not to answer? It’s just information. His omnipotence isn’t perfect, it can be blocked or interfered with by outside forces. It can also be limited by his own personal biases.

However, in that DC Doomsday Clock crossover I think he does figure out how magic works. So if he didn’t want it to effect him, he could just instantly analyze it’s power and neutralize it. No time-mental trickery required.
