Declaration of Victim Losses, should I get a lawyer or just fill the form?

r/

Hey everyone,

A family member was one of the victims in a Ponzi scheme in the Miami area. The guy running the scheme got convicted and now the court sent them a “Declaration of Victim Losses” form to fill out before his sentencing in August.

They lost a lot and have signed contracts and everything. The court says they might get restitution, but I’m not sure if I should just fill out the form and submit it or if I should get them to talk to a lawyer first. I’ve never dealt with anything like this before.

Also, are there any free legal aid places I can email or call to ask what to do?

Location: Florida (Miami area)

Any advice would be appreciated
