Dessert first is optimal. Usually when you have the main course prior to dessert (at least in ‘MURICA) the portions are huge. Forcing down a sweet when you’re already full is torture. By reversing you get to enjoy the sweet and also take home leftovers from your main.

Rather just not have dessert.
Savory meal, then dessert, then a little “sweet out” (a morsel of savory to get the sweet out of your mouth).
Listen to your body. If the portions are too large, then save some for later.
If I’m full I just won’t have dessert
You know you can just stop eating when you feel almost full and order it to go, right?
You don’t have to pig out in the main portion to then be full before the desert.
