I figured I’d share a little win with you all.
Ever since I got pregnant, MIL has been critical about pretty much everything. I’ve told DH over and over, but he’s been in denial. I finally went no contact, and he’s been the one dealing with her. Now that the baby’s here, her criticisms just go through him instead of me.
Yesterday she texted asking for baby pictures. DH sent one of LO in the car seat. She immediately replied, “I don’t mean to be a pain, but the seat isn’t facing the right way.” Without missing a beat, DH shot back: “You are a pain. I moved the car seat just to take a picture for you.”
Haven’t heard a word from her since.
Later DH admitted this is the third time she’s sent him something critical, and for the first time he said, “I see it now.”
Small victory, but I’ll take it.

My mom used to make rude comments when I sent pictures for awhile. So I stopped sending any for months. I think she actually took the hint once I started sending them again because she stopped saying stuff like “Still in their pajamas?” Or “Mac and Cheese again?”
