Do 10% of high schoolers attempt suicide each year?

r/

I came across this article from the CDC that indicates that 10% of high schoolers attempted suicide over the past 12 months (https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/73/su/pdfs/su7304a9-H.pdf).

I understand that this is self reported but that seems unbelievably high, especially given other CDC data (https://www.cdc.gov/suicide/facts/data.html) seems to put the annual rate at lower than 1%.

So what is going on?
