hey reddit need some opinions for my current situation ,
so i (19F) recently caught up with an old hs friend (21F) , we were talking about our relationship status when she had asked if i was still in my old hs relationship , to which i told her no and i was seeing someone new but not yet in a confirmed relationship with (were in the dating/talking stage)
she had asked all these types of questions which i answered and she reacted positively .. until i stated his age
(little context) me and him (27M) have only been talking for two months, been on numerous dates (basically every weekend) and have gotten very comfortable with one another, we are also coworkers so we see each other everyday
my mom and sister (they work with us aswell) have met him and have good opinions about him, my dad hasn’t but only has fatherly concerns and doesn’t even mind the age gap. his father knows (who ALSO works with us) and is actually very content with it.
NOW my old friend reacted horribly, calling the whole thing weird and creepy and even tried calling it grooming?? (which is FALSE) i ended up leaving from the hang out early and now feel weird about her comment.
i understand 7 years is a pretty big gap (i’m turning 20 this year he JUST turned 27 and does NOT look his age) but calling it grooming is too much.. no one else around me seemed to mind and i don’t either.
honest opinions and thoughts?
tl;dr : my (19F) friend (21F) called my current relationship (27M) weird and grooming. is the age gap that bad?
