This is going to sound fucking crazy so I guess I’m posting it here for the record so I can look back on it later.
I’ve been living in my apartment for 10 years. The apartment got sold about 5 years ago and it’s gone down hill- they are to the point they allow anyone in without background checks so we’ve had characters. I live here because it’s below market rate because I’ve been here so long.
Nearly a year ago (I checked the date) I went to the communal laundry room to do laundry. I encountered a new tennate and helped him with the laundry app briefly for less than a minute. I came back to my panty and delicate load being gone through and rummaged touched and completely gone through and sorted and a bottle of wine and a note.
I immediately notified management and my boyfriend. Management said they’d deal with it and I’ve never seen the guy since. I genuinely thought he moved out. My boyfriend has literally done every single load since because the incident was so weird and I felt unsafe- and as it turns out he loves carrying the baskets up and down the stairs while hates folding and I’m the opposite so it’s worked out.
Fast forward to tonight. I’m leaving town right when my boyfriend gets off work for a mini getaway (I had the day off ) I thought enough time had passed and I could be brave and go to the laundry room myself and get a load done. I went down started it and I was so proud of myself.
When I came down to change it- two candy bars were on each washed lid dead center so I had to remove them to grab my laundry and rotate it.
I know it sounds crazy so I messaged my neighbor girl and my boyfriend and said “this is gonna sound crazy but how many times has someone left gifts in / on your laundry? And what are the chances this can happen to me twice and the gap that’s it’s been since I’ve done laundry?”
Both said it’s never happened to them and this is weird. I checked the meta data on my pics.
Last time I did laundry & guy went through my panties and left a note was July 26 2024
Today was the first day I’ve done laundry since. It’s July 3rd 2025
So ladies- please tell me there is a reasonable explanation for this- is there an internet trend to leave gifts in communal laundry rooms? Or am I justified in feeling extreme anxiety

Might be worth getting one of those little apartment washers and a drying rack for your delicates. And go to a laundromat away from home for the rest.
