I like being alone, but I like debating things I see just for fun. So often times I will be at home or even out on a walk just talking to myself. If I’m out of the house I will do it quietly and if I see other people I’ll stop or pretend I was on my phone, but sometimes I’ll make faces to myself and catch some eyes staring at me. Is this normal? I thought this was just a silly little quirk but idk anymore.

No, never.
I do it all the time. I also do walk around on the phone and people look at me like I’m crazy, or try to talk to me. I just ignore them. I don’t know these people. Their opinions on my habits are irrelevant.
I talk, swear, sing and read aloud to myself
I do it all the time, too. I think it helps me process my thoughts and keep myself sane. I was doing it in the car yesterday and someone was looking at me so I pretended like I was talking to someone on the phone over the speaker and had a one way conversation with my “husband” bahaha. What kind of things do you talk to yourself about? Sometimes people catch me making faces at work and bring it up and we just laugh it off. I tell them I’m stressed or have a lot on my mind. I try not to be super self conscious about it but I always worry about it a little bit myself.
Never out loud

The only thing I do out loud being alone is wining/grumbling about something time to time
All other thoughts are only in my head
I wonder what is nature of this
Rehearsal for future conversations
You’re definitely not alone in this! A lot of people chat with themselves, whether it’s to sort out their thoughts or just have a little fun.
We all do, if not out loud, sub conciously in our mind even if reciting just being naturally human.
All the time mainly in work. It helps with processing large datasets.
Once you start answering your own questions, that’s when it gets interesting
definitely and as i get older the more comfortable i feel doing it
It is an acknowledged sign of intelligence:-)
I do it all the time when I’m at the house alone. it helps me process & prepare for future conservations so I can succeed with my grammar a little bit more clearly
I could’ve written this word for word. Good to see I’m not some lunatic
Most people talk in their head in the same way you might out loud, there’s no advantage to doing it out loud unless you specifically want to hear yourself talking (singing would be an obvious example).
Some people don’t have an internal monologue and can only talk to themselves by doing so out loud.
Oh love, me and my 10 other me’s have a great conversation/argument hashing shit out of my brain when I’m super stressed.
I have conversations with myself regularly in my head but never out loud, got high once and convinced myself i was 2 seperate people in the same body like Jim Carey in Me, Myself and Irene 😂
I do it allll the time to mate. Feels like it helps me understand my thoughts better to hear them out loud. Sometimes it might let me hear how biased or prejudiced I am thinking, or let me hear how ill thought out my feelings about something might be.
Doesn’t stop it feeling weird when other people are around tho
I have really good imagination lol. I even picture myself fighting monsters in video games
In order to have an intelligent conversation, I’m forced to talk to myself, lol.
most of my life I thought people talking to themselves was odd (outl loud., internal dialogue is Dif) now I just assume its just earbuds and move on (what an age we live in lol)
I remember being dumbfounded when I learned some people DON’T do this. You do, I do, and I thought everyone did.
The conversation is in my head with my two entity
I usually talk with my self when im irritated or somewhat, yesterday per example I was trying to speed up some work stuff and I started saying out loud, come on, lets go and things like that sort
Dont ever lose this internal dialogue because its the only conversationalist you really need
I certainly don’t.
Me this girl right here! I have no problem letting someone know I wasn’t talking to them, I was talking to myself! Every day!
I’m gonna start putting my hand up to my ear like I’m CIA in public
not actively no
I also love talking to myself, but when I realize I’m talking to myself, I just find it cringy😭
I wouldn’t call it “normal” as the majority of people don’t do it. I had one roommate who did it. – It was rather irritating. it just felt inconsiderate as it was distracting. I don’t understand why they just don’t have an inner monologue instead.
Haven’t heard of the funny faces one before. Seems a tad off, no?
When I was in college, I had a job driving a delivery truck with no radio. I also had a car with a non functioning radio that I drove to an internship 5 or 6 hours away each week. It became a habit to work things out, problems, arguments, hopes and dreams, whatever. I still very rarely turn the radio on in the car. It becomes my therapy office where I can figure things out by saying them aloud. Nowadays, with Bluetooth phone calls in cars, it doesn’t look strange for other drivers to see you talking to yourself.
I do that but instead of talking outloud I talk in my head and sometimes my lips move.
I talk to myself all the time mainly because I’m the smartest one in the room and nobody else knows what I’m talking about…….. I’m usually alone.
I talk to myself and also respond to myself…. I live alone and it actually is supposed to be good for us old folk and our memory. I keep myself entertained anyway . It’s taking to real people I have trouble with.
Constantly. It’s the only way I get an intelligent conversation.
Can’t you just talk to yourself in your head? Why do you say it out loud? Weird imo
I don’t, but my brother does. I do however catch myself making faces when daydreaming sometimes.
My five personalities agree.
You know what, there’s this idea that, oh they’re talking to themself, must be crazy. I actually think it would be crazy to always be silent when you’re alone or around others sometimes. I don’t even think that’s possible, at least for me.
I’ve told myself, I’ll try to keep all my thoughts in my head. 3 minutes later I’ve said something out loud.
Yes. Talk to ourselves first before talking to the world. It makes us grounded and helps with clarity.
I do it too. From my experience it has been very helpful especially if you ever experience the same situation in the future. You feel prepared. Talk to yourself it’s no problem.
Is reading or reading instructions talking to one self?
I talk to myself a lot and I didn’t really notice until recently I realized it when I’m in stores alone I just tap with myself haha
Because other’s will say you going insane
I feel like I have been doing this more and more, I mean full out loud conversation while driving. I just thought I’m going crazy more.
