I’m almost too tired to fight anymore. It looks like Democrat or Republican, the Trump team is so independent it doesn’t need outsiders for anything. We’re all along for the ride.
Which raises the question, why are Americans so willing to kick up their feet and let the “pros” handle it?
Do we/they no longer trust their own minds or instincts to make the right call anymore? Are people PREFERRING to have their head in the sand? And if so, how do liberals compete?

That feeling is the goal of the Trump administration’s media strategy.
The answer is to just keep fighting. You may not be able to stop all or even 1% of the evil that they do, but if you keep fighting the good fight with honesty and compassion you’ll still be a hero in my book even if you fail. You may not be able to save everyone but you may be able to save someone. That’s worth doing.
People are just ignorant and will vote for the guy who makes them feel the best.
You win elections by energizing people, not by passing sane policy. That’s been clear for a very, very long time now. He energized enough people to vote for him to give him the election.
No. I think a lot of people never cared in the first place. I think some of the people who do care at all only have so much time and energy to do anything about it, and some people care but have other concerns that make them hesitant to stick their necks out.
I think they do it because they are too exhausted to volunteer their free time for politics.
Do you live under a rock?? 5 MILLION PEOPLE JUST PROTESTED against 47’s admin! Maybe YOU are sitting back and kicking it but the rest of us sure as hell are not!
They’re throwing people they accuse of being terrorists into a figurative black hole. I’m calling it a black hole both because it’s a black site detention center, but also because they apparently can’t or won’t get them back.
>I’m almost too tired to fight anymore.
And what have you done?
Probably most people just want to distance themselves from politics now. We’re all dealing with a fire hose of information, and misinformation, and disinformation. A lot of folks just want to tune all that out and watch the NCAA final, or newest reality show, while texting and FaceTiming it with their friends.
We just spent an entire year screaming that this would happen.
We’re exhausted.
And with control of NO parts of our government, there isn’t much we can do.
People voted for this. They wanted this. They need to experience it.
Time and time again democrats fix things. Then, they get zero credit.
If anything, Americans tend to be more self-important compared to the average person, and therefore less likely to acquiesce in general.
I see this is the root cause of the Trump phenomenon. People who have no particular interest or skill in government or political science, getting hyped up by their church or facebook groups or w/e, so they feel they can and should get involved.
People throughout histroy generally tend to acquiesce to power, because they have no other choice and also they have no reason to believe they have a better grasp on modern events. But Americans are on the extreme end of the individualistic scale, and thus far more sensitive to getting frustrated when people don’t listen to them.
No. People support Trump (and oppose democracy) because they don’t trust the rest of us.
They still trust themselves but know full well that they will soon be losing every fair election. They know their views aren’t popular with the people they consider anti-American, which is why they consider them anti-American. They believe any other view than theirs is rot, and to keep the rot at bay they need to end democracy.
More that I don’t think they’ll ever be convinced to even quietly withdraw the Trump support unless he tariffs their jobs away.
To be sure, that’d leave a lot of collateral damage but, I don’t think anything else will move the needle – the only thing is if his presidency makes enough people’s lives worse.
>Which raises the question, why are Americans so willing to kick up their feet and let the “pros” handle it?
I mean… that’s representative democracy for you. I’m fuck’in busy, I don’t have TIME to sit in meetings and read bills and blah blah blah. I elected a representative to take care of that shit for me!
> Are people PREFERRING to have their head in the sand?
I think that’s kind of shitty framing. Like… What can we do? There aren’t a lot of options. Maslow’s hierarchy of needs here, we’re all trying to put food on the table and keep a roof over our heads. Sorry I’m not storming D.C., my kids need to not be homeless? No!
>I’m almost too tired to fight anymore.
>how do liberals compete?
Oh, let’s not kid ourselves, most liberals aren’t doing shit. We’re not magically better than everyone. Except Republicans. We’re definitely better than them. And Libertarians, EVERYONE is better than them… But that’s not the same as being active.
TLDR; Snap the fuck out of it, quit whining! Do what you CAN, don’t beat yourself up for not doing more!
People voted for Trump because they work long hours but still can’t pay their bills. They voted for Trump because other politicians haven’t helped them, so they are trying something else. My guess is, they will vote for the democrats after the republicans screw the pooch.
They should rename this sub “Why Ask A Liberal Anything?”
Quitting in advance is the most important Liberal trait today.
The majority of American people, including the majority of voters, are not paying attention. They do not actively want what maga wants, but they also don’t care and/or don’t understand how it affects their lives.
> Which raises the question, why are Americans so willing to kick up their feet and let the “pros” handle it?
There’s no actionable plan to stop them before 2027 when a new Congress is sworn in.
What news are you watching that you think a majority of the American people have acquiesced to Trumpism? Have you missed all the protests?
Another important thing to consider is that everything Trump has been doing is either within the sphere of the executive branch or enabled by the legislative branch. He has yet to really face off against stiff resistance such as state and local jurisdictions. Odds are, he will avoid that kind of confrontation out of fear of looking weak and creating a strong contender for 2028.
