Do you commute to and from work in your police uniform or civilian clothes?

r/

Assuming you don’t have a take home car. If you have a take home car you’re obviously wearing your uniform still.

Do you drive to work in your personal vehicle in regular clothes or your police clothes?

Someone in this subreddit said, that “most of you guys don’t drive in uniform when ur in ur POV.” Wanna see if it’s true or not.

Wouldn’t you wanna go straight home not have to change clothes?

I do, department policy dictates my patches have to be covered up.  It’s easier for me to walk in and be ready to rock vs not.  There’s moments I curse myself for doing it, however.

I’d usually go in uniform pants and undershirt with a cover shirt. Armor and uniform shirts and belt were in the locker at work.

Typically normal clothes unless I am doing a training or OT, then I come in Class C uniforms. Or if my patrol uniform was brought home to be cleaned

Some guys wear oversized baseball jersey over uniform. Tinted windows too.

Civilian clothes, always changed at the station

I show up in crooks and castle hoodie and sweats or other rat attire.

I didn’t have a take-home car but I still wore my uniform in my pov. Having said that, my agency was only about 6 miles down the road.

I have a take home car so I’m usually in my patrol car already.

If my patrol car is in the shop then I wear my uniform while I drive my personal car to the precinct to grab a pool car.

I really don’t worry much about it. I live on a major road so it’s no secret that cop lives at my address. My personal car has pretty dark tinted windows so it’s hard to see inside anyway. There’s also only 2 spots on my commute where I’d even possibly have someone in a car next to me with a chance to try looking in and seeing me.

It’s not worth the hassle of hauling my uniform and gear to the precinct early enough for me to change and sign out a pool car, and then have to do the reverse at the end of my shift.

I work work boots, pants, and undershirt w/ a hoodie. I’d put on armor/shirt and duty belt at the station.

I hate riding in my POV with my duty belt on.

I’d usually wear my pants and boots to and from work and finish getting dressed at the station.

Locker at work. I will never wear a uniform / work clothes in my personal car, and I think it’s disgusting to do so.

I don’t wear cop stuff in my personal car anymore. At most I’ll wear my pants and undershirt, but their non-descript. Outside of that I get changed at the station. I like being able to run into stores after shift without being a goober.

I did. We had locker rooms in our station so I went to & from work in street clothes.

Fuck no, I don’t drive in uniform. Way too many possible issues.

I all change in the locker room. Closest I get is driving to court in a suit while armed.
