Do you have trouble justifying spending money on yourself?

r/

Since I’m single there is no one to tell me “no” in any case unless I’m overdrawn or out of credit.

I mean I earned it I can spend it but. . . I sort of just . . . don’t. I generally pick the cheaper option instead of the thing I wanted most. . . or I do without it. I can spend money more freely on others.

If I can afford it sure.

If I got bills to pay and the thing is something I don’t truly need but still buy it then yea im gonna give myself a mental parent scolding for not getting my priorities straight. I guess depends how much the purchase will affect me.

As long as it’s actually spending money, that’s one of the best parts of being an adult

If it’s within my budget and reasonable means no.

Thing is most things I want are out of my budget or at least would make things too tight to not justify spending money on it.

Yes I do, growing up my dad terrorized me about spending money.

No, I don’t, but I do not buy anything unless it is replacing something that broke or became worn-out. My parents grew up during the great depression and perhaps my upbringing is different than most, I am still driving the same Dodge Dakota that I paid cash for 25 years ago.

I am a big believer in delayed gratification. I would rather save money, invest, and retire early than buy everything I want now. I think this reluctance to spend money is a good thing.

All the time. It’s weird, because I don’t really care that much about money but then I’ll spend a week flip-flopping on buying like a $25 kitchen appliance or something.

Yes, I can spend on my wife with no guilt but myself it’s hard. A meal or drink out is no problem but I’m not dropping $50 on a massage or buying a new Xbox game.

I’m married. I spend a lot on my wife. Not as much on me. There is the occasional time. I bought 2 watches. The high end Apple Watch and a Tag watch due to it reminding me of my dad when he had one. When I buy clothes, I have help from my wife. Usually a nice Polo shirt or pants. Rarely shoes until they wear out.
