Sunset, because the only time I see the sunrise is when I’m driving to my office (I commute once per month – it’s a 450km / 5 hour drive, beginning at 5:30, getting me to the office at about 10:30). The other days, I try to sleep through the sunrise 🙂
I used to dislike sunrises because if I was seeing one, it meant I partied all night so regret would start creeping in. Now, I love them as much as I love sunsets. I watch both routinely.
My wife is gone now. But for many, many years both of us enjoyed being up early, before the sunrise, when the world was quiet. Then to have our coffee and watch the world wake up. Listen, with windows open, or out on the patio as the bird sounds gradually increase. Then the first splashes out on the lake as fish began to move around and feed. The sound of the loon calls. Then the colors as the sun rose. And we breathed in the fresh morning air, sipping that coffee. A quiet world, at peace, the birth of a new day. Its wonderful.
SUNRISE. Back in 2018, it was my New Year’s resolution to see more sunrises than I missed.
Sunrise is so peaceful. It never is not magic for me to see that big, beautiful ball of fusion start to scrape the horizon. I live on the south shore of Massachusetts. Watching the sunrise right on the harbor is next level spirituality for me.
My bedroom window is west. My yard is west, so I see sunset much more often. Not to mention that I am not what one would call a morning person. It reminds of Mr. Rogers and Billy the Jazz musician.
Mr Rogers: Hello. How are you?
Billy Bob: You think somebody can get me a cup of coffee or somethin?
Mr Rogers: You’re not used to getting up early.
Billy Bob: Huh … I’m not here yet.
Mr Rogers: What time do you usually get up?
Billy Bob: I usually get up when the sun is warm, like 1:30, 2:00 in the afternoon.
Mr Rogers: I like to get up around 6:30.
Billy Bob: That’s insane. You’re stupid.
(they are both voices by Bill Murray fyi)
Mr Rogers: Well, we’re going to go to the magic kingdom.
Billy Bob: Oh no, it’s too early for me. I gotta drive.
I like both when the sky is clear because in the morning, sunrise starts with a Band of Venus (that reddish/pink tint in the Eastern sky) and sunsets end with the same thing, only in the Western sky. It’s one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen.
I only see sunrises very rarely, mainly in summer when I come out of the pub in the morning and I like them, I also like sunsets which I see far more frequently. So I guess I like both.
My condo faces east. Sun rise in the winter is great. Sunrise in the summer can be hotter than I want to start my day. Moon rise is wonderful. The unexpected pleasure is looking at the golden sun reflected off the dunes and cottages we look out at.
Sunrise. Mainly because I was able to see the sunrise during my commute at certain points during the year over the past 20+ years and during my Saturday morning runs as well.

Yes!
Sunrise
Swiftly flow the years
Why not both?
Sunset tends to be more relaxing, but Sunrise is the promise of a new day.
Whenever we cruise, I always make a point of catching a sunrise at sea. Watching the light peak over the smooth ocean horizon is truly breathtaking. 🌅
Sunsets because you don’t have to go to work after seeing it.
Sunset because I’m a night person.
Both

Yes!
I’ve always been a morning person, so I’m going to say sunrise.
Sunrise. It’s a new day.
Yes
Sunsets. My absolute favorite part of the day. I can’t imagine how many Sunday pictures I have. Some of them are so beautiful
Yes. Both.
Set
I like both equally.
Both
They’ve always looked the same to me just backwards
I used to dislike sunrises because if I was seeing one, it meant I partied all night so regret would start creeping in. Now, I love them as much as I love sunsets. I watch both routinely.
Yep!
Both
Sunsets.. because I like to sleep in 😅
Both
Both but sunsets are spectacular
Both but I don’t look for either enough.
I go to bed when the sun is still up. My pick is sunrise.
I like both, but I like sunrise better.

Sunsets. Sunrise comes too early.
Yes 🙂
I like both and have different feelings for both
Im up early so always nice to see the sun rise – a start of something new. I love the calm in the morning before people are out and about
Love a good sunset in places like the mountains or beach
Sunsets for sure! The only time I experience sunrises is while driving into work being blinded.
SUNRISE. Back in 2018, it was my New Year’s resolution to see more sunrises than I missed.

Sunrises occur in the middle of the night so if I’m seeing one I’m probably not going to be in a good mood
Sunset. The calming end to the day.
Sunsets, and if at the beach shining over the ocean? Fantastic!
Yes I do
Subsets because I am awake at that time . I must admit being up early to witness many beautiful sunrises.
Sunrises. Best time of the day, when everything is still and quiet, except for the chirping birds.
Both, but I do love starting the day with beautiful colors in the sky or some beaming sun rays. Always makes me look forward to the rest of the day
Yes.
If I am seeing a sunrise it means I am awake way too early for my tastes.
I’m grateful to see and enjoy both !😁
I prefer sunsets. I dislike getting up while it’s still dark. It reminds me too much of having to get up, I suppose, for school or work.
Sunsets. I don’t get up early enough to see a sunrise
Sunrises but nowadays I sleep through them
Sunrise
I go on evening walks after dinner to see the sunset, enjoy the view. I’m coastal.
Too many trees and hills where I live to actually see either.
I do love the sunrise, but I hate waking up that early so I almost never see one.
Lunch time

Sunsets because I don’t ever see the sunrise.
As a photographer, I like both.
As a regular human, I agree with everyone saying that sunsets are more relaxing because you usually don’t have to go do stuff after them.
Love photographing then at the beach.

I like night so I like sunset.
But I’m an early riser.
Sunsets- because I’m waiting for …. Tonight
Equally impressive!
Yes.
Both. I saw more sun sets when I was younger and more sun rises now than I’m older.
Sunsets. Not a fan of early mornings.
Sunsets. Never been a morning person.
I enjoy both everyday.
Sets. There is something almost demonic about that orange red look to the sky when the sun is almost down. Truly beautiful
Sunset because I don’t have to get up early to see it.
I live on the west coast of Australia so see some magnificent sunsets, so yea, its sunset for me.
Sunset, not a morning person
I only see sunrises very rarely, mainly in summer when I come out of the pub in the morning and I like them, I also like sunsets which I see far more frequently. So I guess I like both.
Sunrise. Quiet and peaceful. Here’s one I witnessed on a recent camping trip

Sort of new to Reddit. Is there a subreddit for old people talking to old people?

I like both, but sunsets are my favorite. That is my favorite time of day!
Sunsets are the best, I’m a nightowl.
Like them both, but I usually awaken way after sunrise!
Sunset…prettier colors
Sunrise. Mainly because I was able to see the sunrise during my commute at certain points during the year over the past 20+ years and during my Saturday morning runs as well.
If I happen to be up early enough to catch a sunrise, I love it
if I have to get up early, I resent it.
in winter I love sunrise because it doesn’t happen until around 8:30am, but I hate sunset because it’s around 4pm.
right now I’m slightly annoyed because I have Sunrise/Sunset from Fiddler on the Roof in my head. Thanks
I can’t see either one where I live. I wouldn’t see the mornings anyway cuz I’m never up in time.
Both
