Does Anybody Else get sick once a month or two?

r/

I (23F) think in the last 2-3 years I’ve been sick 20+ times in total, this year alone I have quite literally been sick 4-5 times already, since february I have been sick once a month with a cold. usually just 1-3 days, but it’s still very jarring that it happens like once a month or two?? sometimes I go months without being sick, it’s on ongoing joke with my friends that I am always unwell.

I do have a theoretical autoimmune disease I just do not know what it is, I have severe allergies and eczema which I am on a biologic for… which I have been told is not impacting my immune system, I have also had COVID 3 times. I swear I never got sick like this until after I got COVID, it even triggered my eczema.. 😭

Covid damages every organ system in a body (and can trigger all kinds of other conditions, eczema makes sense) and damages the immune system. That’s three confirmed infections with the chance to do so, but a lot of people are getting infections mild enough that they don’t test for it, or it’s completely asymptomatic.

See an ENT and allergist, as allergies can get to the point of autoimmune. They can refer out to other specialists like rheumatologists if need be. Mine turned out to be gastrointestinal reflux after thinking it was sinus issues

I have a friend who is similar. They also have eczema. I encourage them to overdo it with natural things to help boost immunity. First, check and see if there are any natural/fresh foods/produce that negatively impact any medication you’re taking. Once you know that info, plan to boost your immune system. I mean, really get into it. Like ginger, beets, lemon, leafy greens, teas, and antioxidants. You could consider an immune boosting juice or shot along with a multivitamin. When you shower, focus on steam therapy, clear your sinus, and massage your face to help with draining. It will seem like a lot at first. Start simple and build up.

I haven’t been sick since Dec 2019 (knock on wood). I have had congestion for a day, and the first thing I do is flush my system with fresh juice, hot tea with honey and water, and a steamy shower. And I’m good to go.

Probably need genetic testing and EGD scope w/bx for celiac…. Seems reasonable and likely, although surprised that rx’ing md for biological didn’t order initial assessment for celiac

Yes. I get nauseous a lot. I throw up all day, sometimes for two days about once a month but this month it was twice. The worst part is my boyfriend gets mad at me when that happens, saying it’s my fault, that I don’t take care of myself. He also gets mad when I make myself throw up to make the nauseas feeling go away for about 30 minutes (I never do that when I’m not feeling sick). Sometimes I forget to eat, or don’t eat enough during the day, and then get nauseous so there is a link, but sometimes it’s completely random.

I do think I had a mild case of Covid a few months ago – however the nausea thing has been going on for longer than a few months . It is the 2nd or 3rd time I have had Covid. This last time wasn’t too bad, but then I got headaches about every other day for a month which was annoying. I figured it was linked to the Covid somehow.

Yes, when I get poor sleep. Otherwise no.

I do but always assumed it was due to my asthma, and also I take a lot of public transport and people are always coughing into the air on the buses I’m on 🙄

I’ve had Covid twice but this constantly catching colds has been happening since way before Covid started.

I’m the complete opposite. I haven’t been sick since 2015. (That was norovirus. Before that I also went years without getting sick.) I never got COVID. In general I’m not a healthy person so I don’t understand it.

You’re stressed and don’t get enough rest.

    It’s by design.

It’s probably covid immune system damage, which happens with every infection even asymptomatic ones, which account for around 49% of all infection. Stay safe out there
