does anyone else notice their memory or information retention getting worse lately?

r/

Im 24f turning 25 in august. I had gone to college 2018 and stopped in 2021. I went back in fall of 2023 and I feel like its been so hard to retain anything. Whenever I watch a documentary or read an article, I COMPLETELY forget what I read the next couple of days. Has anyone gone through this lately? If so, what have you done to help.

I’ve left the car on TWICE in as many days. The first time I thought the key died and popped out the physical key to lock the door, today I at least figured it out when it wouldn’t lock properly. My memory has always been kinda shit though

The shibboleth which runs everything is taking it’s toll. Hollywood, TV, medical drugs, and false idols all effect our proper functioning because they create a low-level insanity within the genome.

Learning is a skill that atrophies if you don’t practice it.

I also think that the immediacy of everything, and the continual enshittification of everything, means that we’re losing our ability to endure hardships in order to achieve better outcomes, and we’ll settle for inferior outcomes because they’re easier. That is a toxic combination.

There is a very simple solution and you won’t like it. You have to suffer. Like, always. Not just now. The amount of suffering is worst at the beginning, but it will always be there.

By suffer, I mean experience feelings like you’re probably experiencing right now; you’re struggling to do something that was easier for you earlier in life. That doesn’t feel good.

Suffering can take other forms — physical pain from exertion, the realization that a belief you hold is incorrect, not understanding some abstract principle no matter how hard you try to grasp it, trying something new and being bad at it, etc.
