Quite honestly, I used to love the idea of America and always wanted to visit (I’m in the UK). Now though, it’s waaaaay down my list of travel dreams, but I just find that so strange. Honestly, how is it as a citizen in the last 12 months?

It’s pretty great from my perspective. It may suck for some people or for specific cases. But overall it’s good.
Unpopular opinion – America is a great place to live. People just like to complain and don’t know how good they have it.
Yes. It’s an awful and depressing existence.
Yes, it does.
Yes
Imagine you are in a car with no brakes careening toward a cliff and the door won’t open, but it’s also got a bomb attached that will go off if it slows down, or the windows are opened up… that’s pretty much it.
Nah not really. Personally I think the people that say yes are the types of people that tend to not take control of their own lives so they blame external factors and the president and politicians and systems for why their life sucks. Not saying that can’t be the case but most times I notice these people tend to have a defeatist attitude or don’t look at themselves in the mirror to realize their own shortcomings and how they can overcome them. I feel like I can be successful anywhere I go that isn’t a literal war zone lol. And before someone accuses me – no I am not rich nor am I a white male so no white privileges here lmao
I just know there’s going to be some people that read this and get salty but it is what it is lol
It’s pretty cool can’t complain and no I’m not white
I can’t speak for all Americans but it sucks being me in America right now
It’s great here but the tariff stuff needs to get resolved quickly and I don’t really care for the shitting all over Canada that has been going on.
Im also in the uk and i know one American person living in north Carolina and they love it and rave about it, out of town in the mountains looks like heaven to me and they like to rub it in too. And i have a mate who lives near whistler in Canada (still America?) which also looks like heaven and so does the bike park there.. one day. I think alot of what you read on this site is from a vocal minority. Life is what you make it. Go to more bike parks!
Completely fine. The shit you see on TV or on Reddit is not what most people deal with on a regular basis.
I would never visit it with the current state.
I’m sure it has many great sights, beautiful nature (at least for now) but the society itself is fundamentally broken.
Yes
It is horrible and terrifying.
Honestly we have our issues but overall I don’t think it’s too bad really ask again in 8 months
Nope, real Americans don’t go around putting others down or trying to hurt them & WE are more than the majority. We have work to do to Undo all the past Shit but America is still the best.
My buddy has been skiing in the mountains. He came home and we biked on the coastal range. Then he went fishing and I went and played a round of golf along the ocean. We’ve been doing similar activities all winter. It’s been amazing and now we get to have spring and summer. I’m geeked.
Its ALWAYS great to be an American. Its just as beautiful today as it ever was.
It used to be high on my list too, not anymore. I’d be more likely to avoid it than go there any time soon.
No. It’s worse. It’s SO much worse.
My personal life fortunately does not but seeing what’s happening to our country and feeling powerless to stop it does
The part about the US is horrible is that it is great or at least good until it isn’t. Then once it isn’t it it’s really hard to be good again.
It’s in such a bizarre and tumultuous state right now, everything’s a bit scary and unpredictable, and we’ve all lost our faith in the systems supposed to help keep things going smoothly, all the governmental checks and balances we learned about in school, disintegrating in front of us. And just disappointed at human nature and how foolish and/or selfish and cruel people are to have collectively made this choice.
No. It’s not bad at all.
People live their lives in a constant state of fear and the media machine makes it all seem so much worse than it really is.
