Does Van Hollen getting a meeting with Abrego Garcia put the Trump admin even more in contempt of the Supreme Court?

r/

They said there’s nothing they could do, and Van Hollen got a meeting in less than 48 hours.

(I could be using the legal words wrong, but I just mean legally this looks even worse for the Trump admin)

I’m no lawyer, but wrongly imprisoning a citizen has to look bad on the resume.

It absolutely puts the lie to the notion that there’s nothing that can be done. If a random senator can get El Salvador to do something they didn’t want to do, the fucking president could certainly do that if they wanted to. The problem is that they don’t want to.

I’m not one of Van Hollen’s constituents, but if I was, this would definitely solidify my vote for his re-election next time he’s up.

Not only did Van Hollen get a meeting with Bukele, but he was able to meet Abrego Garcia even after Bukele said he couldn’t make that happen. Politically, it really weakens Trump’s threats of sending American citizens to be imprisoned in El Salvador because Bukele has shown a lack of confidence (or straight up belief) in the arrangement by being diplomatic with another American politician. Bukele was acting based on post-Trump American politics.

No, their own actions do that. Van Hollen just provided proof of how little action they were taking.
